Tiab - The new boys on the block19th March 2004 New boys on the block - Tiab Limited are breaking the mould with their new and refreshing approach to laboratory and hydraulic test systems. The philosophy is simple. Rather than build test solutions completely in-house why not capitalise on the wealth and rapid growth of existing mechanical hardware, digital hardware and software that is widely available. The systems are based on LabView for the PC's user-interface which are simply linked, via a USB cable, to a powerful Texas Instruments DSP. Beyond that the design readily accomodates third party electronic and mechanical hardware. A comprehensive software suite includes signal generators, monitors, oscilloscope, hardware modelling, limit checking, timers, event counters, calibration, data acquisition and many forms of data logging and replay. A high level of configurability ensures a single system can be used for many applications and different test configurations. There is seamless data transfer with Matlab and Excel and comprehensive web support and documentation. The systems evolve from a test laboratory monitor and acquisition system to complete servo hydraulic controllers. Together with data analysis, report generation, database and internet connectivity the systems provide a complete test environment. Systems run their own intranet site so can be viewed and interrogated from, well potentially anywhere - using any web browser. The open and modular design make them easy to refine to exact customer requirements. Tiab can provide complete test solutions or any sub-component part.
